The slender Merkel three-piece forearm is designed to provide the shooter with a quick responsive shotgun with natural pointability. All over under models are hand engraved and are stocked with highly figured Luxury grade wood. All Merkel shotguns are equipped with cold hammer forged barrels which have higher surface hardness that extend the life of the bores and chokes. The super rigid Kersten crossbolt mechanism is one of the most safe and reliable methods of locking the barrel to the receiver of an over under shotgun. One hundred years of continuous refinement have led to the introduction of the new 2000EL series over under shotguns. This new design combines the aesthetic beauty of handcrafted engraving and hand checkering with the precision machining and exact tolerances offered by the latest CNC and EDM production technologies. The new action features an Anson & Deely style boxlock action and has a unique disconnectable ejector system which gives the user the option of selecting automatic ejector or extractor operation on this shotgun model.
