In February of 2022, Governor Abbott (R-Tx) signed HB-957, known as the "Texas Suppressor Freedom Law" which allowed law-abiding citizens to own suppressors (silencers) made and kept in Texas without having to jump through the unconstitutional hoops laid out by the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), and without having to deal with Biden's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (AFT). Quite simply, if a suppressor is built and kept within the borders of the state of Texas, it's regulated as any old gun part, and not the evil, scary forbidden popsicle that the freedom haters despise.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is now filing suit against the ATF and their unconstitutional gun laws, specifically the NFA and the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA), and has amended his lawsuit to include the NYSRPA v Bruin decision that was recently handed down by the US Supreme Court. With all of the Second Amendment victories coming out of the Supreme Court in recent months, the possibility of further repeals of unconstitutional infringements is quite high.
