Walther PPX Features

The Walther PPX is the next step in innovation for the Walther P99 series of pistols.  This semi-automatic, polymer framed pistol operates on the classic Browning-style tilting-barrel/short recoil action and is fired from a double-action trigger pull.  The frame includes a section of Picatinny rail for mounting lasers and weapon lights.  Threaded barrel models are also available.

Walther PPX Capacity

The Walther PPX is chambered in 9x19mm Luger (9mm Parabellum, 9x19 NATO) and .40S&W and feeds from the same magazines as the Walther Creed.  In 9mm, its magazine holds 16 rounds while its .40 caliber counterpart holds 14 rounds.  If you live in a state with silly gun laws, fear not because 10 round magazines are available.

Walther PPX Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The Walther PPX has typical right-handed controls and lacks an external safety, but the most unique aspect of this gun’s ergonomics is the grip.  The front of the grip is contoured and all four sides are textured with a very effective pattern, and the back of the grip drops straight-down at the bottom of the palm swell.  Quite simply, this is because your hand isn’t touching that portion of the grip so it’s not needed, and it also helps with concealment.

Walther PPX Fit & Finish

The Walther PPX has a reinforced polymer frame and has a stainless steel slide with a Tennifer coating similar to the old Glock Gen 3 “frying pan” coating making it incredibly resilient against damage from weather and wear.

Fit and Finish

Walther PPX Concealability

Concealability
While the PPX is a full-sized pistol in every sense of the phrase, concealment is far from impossible.  With a good holster, proper placement and the right choice in attire, the PPX can be carried unnoticed thanks to its grip design.  If carrying concealed, it would be smart to wear an undershirt to avoid any discomfort or skin irritation as a result of the grip texture rubbing against bare skin.
