The Thompson Contender, as a breech loader, has a capacity of 1 single round. The Contender is available in just about every popular centerfire caliber. This is due to the design that allows you to easily swap barrels.
Thompson Contender Feature
The Thompson Contender is a single-shot break-action target and hunting pistol whose claim to fame is in its ability to easily change calibers. Available in multiple barrel lengths, each barrel has its own iron sights ensuring that your gun will be zeroed after you remove the barrel. Many barrels are set up to accept optics.
Thompson Contender Ergonomics
The grip of the Thompson Contender is specially designed to offer a sturdy, stable and comfortable hold while aiming. This gun has only two controls including the takedown lever that is integrated into the trigger guard, and the hammer. As the barrels are rather heavy and bulky in order to safely handle the amount of pressure from the rifle cartridges this gun fires, the gun has a very front-heavy balance.
Thompson Contender Fit-N-Finish
The Thompson Contender has been around for decades and can currently be found with aftermarket grips to further improve the ergonomics. This gun can be found either in a blued finish that glistens in the sun when it’s properly oiled, and it can also be found with a matte stainless steel finish.
