Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec Features

The Springfield 1911 Mil Spec is one of the truest big-name clones of the venerable Government Length Colt 1911.  As the original, the Springfield 1911 operates on John Browning’s short-recoil action with a 5 inch tilting barrel and fires from a single-action trigger pull.  The slide is topped with a windage-adjustable rear sight and the grip includes a grip safety.

Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec Ergonomics

Ergonomics
Tbe 1911 Mil Spec has WWII style controls and includes a safety that is only on the left side (for right-handed users).  The front of the grip is smooth, the back of the grip has vertical grooves, and the grip panels are deeply checkered to offer plenty of control while remaining true to the original grip style.  The slide includes angled slide serrations that flank the rear sight to provide extra grip when manually cycling the action.

Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec Fit & Finish

The Springfield 1911 Mil Spec is built with a steel frame and can be made of carbon steel or stainless steel.  The carbon steel models can either be parkerized or blued to prevent rust, though all models use a stainless steel barrel.  The Springfield 1911’s are known to be some of the most worthwhile off-the-shelf standard-production back-to-back world war champs on the market.

Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec Concealability

Concealability
Measuring 8.07 inches long, 5.5 inches tall and 1.3 inches wide, the Springfield 1911 Mil Spec is just as easy (or difficult) to conceal as any other full-size 1911 with a standard setup.  While concealment is definitely not impossible, it is important to wear the right attire and make sure you have a good holster that is placed with care.  It may also be a good idea to wear an undershirt so the exposed hammer doesn’t dig into you.
