The M&P 45 is chambered in .45ACP and feeds from the same magazines used in the full-size OG M&P 45 and has a standard magazine capacity of 13 rounds, however 10 round magazines are available for users in states with absurd capacity restrictions. How did they even settle on 10 rounds? Anyways, the magazines combined with the feed ramps are designed to reliably feed every bullet type and if you want to run some +P hollow point ammo, the gun can definitely handle it!
Smith & Wesson M&P 45 M2.0 Feature
The Smith & Wesson M&P 45 M2.0 is an improved iteration on the world-renowned M&P pistol running on the same Browning-style short-recoil action. This striker-fired pistol uses the same 4.6 inch barrel as the original and also retains the reversible magazine release. It is available both with and without a safety and it is also available with an optics-ready slide in case you want to pair a red dot with the windage-adjustable sights.
Smith & Wesson M&P 45 M2.0 Ergonomics
The M&P M2.0 has the same grip and handling geometry as the original M&P and also retains the same controls, however on the M2.0 the slide has added grip serrations along the front that come in handy during disassembly, the grip texturing was improved to a much more aggressive pattern that keeps the gun from shifting in your hand when firing, and the trigger has been improved for a more crispy break without that “squishing a marshmallow” feel. The backstrap on the grip can be changed out with different sizes and is compatible with the original panels.
Smith & Wesson M&P 45 M2.0 Concealability
The M&P 45 M2.0 may be a full-size pistol, but it is definitely concealable with the right holster and attire. Measuring 7.9 inches long, 5.5 inches tall and 1.3 inches wide, this pistol is just about as easy to conceal as a 1911. As for comfort, the lack of an exposed hammer and beavertail on the grip prevent the gun from digging into your lower abdomen, however the aggressive grip texturing can cause skin irritation if you aren’t wearing an undershirt. Reduction of discomfort can be achieved by using one of the older, smoother grip panels from the original M&P.
Smith & Wesson M&P 45 M2.0 Fit-N-Finish
The original M&P was a fantastic firearm by all reasonable metrics, and the M2.0 series improved on the design in every way that fell short. The coatings on the steel controls was changed to eliminate rust and the trigger components were improved, but the rest of the gun’s design was left unchanged. The slide and barrel are made of stainless steel while the frame is made of a high-strength composite polymer that you can clean with acetone.
