The Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal is a semi-automatic, striker-fired pistol that operates on a Browning style short-recoil action with a tilting 4.25 inch barrel. Unlike the previous M&P iterations, the frame of this gun is made out of an aluminum alloy to increase its durability and its weight making it Smith & Wesson’s pinnacle handgun for competitive shooting. The slide includes windage-adjustable iron sights and is optics-ready if you want to mount a red dot.

The Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal is available in 9x19mm (9mm Parabellum / Luger) and .40 S&W and utilizes the same magazines as the rest of the full-size M&P lineup. This gives the M&P Metal a standard capacity of 17 rounds in 9mm and 15 rounds in .40 caliber with both offerings having limited 10-round magazines available for people who live in states with absurd capacity restrictions.

Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal Ergonomics

The M&P M2.0 Metal was designed to use the same grip panels as the previous models and has the same controls as the OG M&P’s. The magazine release is reversible and slide locks can be found on either side of the frame. Slide serrations can be found on the front and back of the slide flanking the iron sights giving the user added grip when manually cycling the action.

Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal Fit & Finish

The M&P Metal uses a frame made of 7075-T6 Aluminum that is anodized to a matte finish to prevent corrosion and has a stainless steel slide and barrel that are coated to prevent wear and negate the chance of rusting. The factory-installed trigger group has an improved sear that offers a much better trigger pull over the polymer-framed models.

Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Metal Concealability

Given the right holster and attire, full-size M&P pistols can pretty easily be concealed. Wearing heavy or loose clothing and employing an inside-the-waistband holster can easily keep this gun hidden away without its silhouette poking through. Just be sure to wear an undershirt as the grip texturing can be a bit abrasive on sensitive skin, though the rounded geometry along the back of the slide and frame do well to avoid discomfort when appendix carrying.
