Sig Sauer P220 Capacity
The SIG Sauer P220 is chambered in .45ACP and 10mmAuto. Contrary to popular belief, this pistol does not feed from standard 1911 magazines, but uses a proprietary magazine that has a standard capacity of 8 rounds. Extended 10 round magazines are available and are approximately 1 inch longer than the standard magazine and require a spacer sleeve to ensure proper insertion.
Sig Sauer P220 Feature
The SIG Sauer P220 is an alloy-framed, semi-automatic pistol that operates on the classic Browning style tilting-barrel short recoil action. Firing from a single- or double-action trigger pull, this pistol is built with a 4.4 inch barrel set in a stainless steel slide topped with windage-adjustable iron sights. Along the front of the frame sits an accessory rail for mounting lasers and weapon lights.
Sig Sauer P220 Ergonomics
The P220 lacks an external manual safety, however it does include a de-cocking lever along the left side of the grip behind the trigger giving the user an additional yet smaller increase in safety due to the longer and heavier trigger pull needed to fire the gun. The slide release sits over the grip and is easily reached by the thumb, and the Hogue style grip panels improve controllability when firing.
Sig Sauer P220 Concealability
The P220 measures 7.7 inches long and 5.5 inches tall. Combined with its width exceeding 1.3 inches, this pistol would be very difficult to conceal without heavy clothing. The exposed hammer and the tang along the back of the grip can also cause discomfort when appendix carrying this full-sized pistol
Sig Sauer P220 Fit-N-Finish
The P220’s frame is hard-coat anodized while the slide and barrel are finished with SIG’s incredibly durable Nitron coating. These finishes improve the gun’s durability and resistance to damage from weather and wear.
