Ballistic Stats
The MK25 is a full-sized combat pistol, featuring the same double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger decocking action as the standard P226 and other SIG pistols of the same basic design. Once loaded, the first shot is fired using a long DA trigger pull. The pull weighs in at 10 pounds, 8 ounces according to my Wheeler Engineering Trigger Gauge. Once the first shot is fired, the slide cycles automatically and cocks the external hammer, moving it to the single-action firing position. Single-action weighs in

Sig Sauer P226 Mk25 Capacity
The Mk25 is chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum and feeds from double-stack, single-feed magazines that offer a standard magazine capacity of 15 rounds. These magazines are identical and compatible with the standard SIG P226 and vice versa. The Mk25 is reinforced to handle +P loads. 10 round magazines are available for those who live in states with magazine restrictions.
Sig Sauer P226 Mk25 Feature
The SIG Sauer Mk25 is the former US Navy SEALs’ standard sidearm and is essentially a military-designated SIG P226. It operates on a Browning-style short-recoil operated tilting-barrel action and has a trigger that can fire with a double- or single-action pull with the slide resetting the hammer into single-action after it fires.
Sig Sauer P226 Mk25 Ergonomics
The Mk25 has no external safety or trigger lock, though it does have a left-side mounted decocking lever to reset the hammer back into its double-action setting that requires a longer and heavier trigger pull to engage. The P226/Mk25 has a true slide release lever that is easily engaged with the thumb after a reload. This is opposed to the “slide lock” levers found on most guns that sit more forward along the frame as they aren’t intended to be used as a slide release.
Sig Sauer P226 Mk25 Concealability
Measuring 7.7 inches long, 5.5 inches tall and 1.35 inches wide, the Mk25 is difficult to conceal, though the shorter length does make it easier to conceal than a 1911 or Glock 17, especially if carrying inside the waistband at the 1 o’clock position (Appendix Carry). Effective concealment can be achieved with longer, looser or heavier clothing and a proper holster with good placement.
Sig Sauer P226 Mk25 Fit-N-Finish
The Mk25 uses an alloy frame with an anodized coating and a reinforced stainless steel slide with SIG’s Nitron coating. An anchor symbol is etched into the left side of the slide as an easily identifiable indicator that it’s a Mk25 and not a standard P226. Aside from that, this gun is essentially a P226 so you know the type of reliability you can expect.
