XM5 was adopted to give American Soldiers a rifle with greater range than the M4 Carbine while also offering greater armor defeating capabilities. The MCX Spear in a semi-automatic configuration was unveiled at SHOT Show 2023 in a semi-automatic-only setup for civilian sales with its only differences being changes to the fire control group, trigger cavity, caliber options, and the length(s) of the barrel to avoid NFA hurdles. The XM5 was re-branded as the XM7 in order to avoid any possible trademark conflicts with Colt's M5 Carbine.SIG Sauer MCX Spear (XM5, XM7) For Sale

Sig Sauer Mcx Spear (Xm5, Xm7) Capacity
The SIG Spear is chambered in .277 SIG FURY (6.8x51mm), .308WIN (7.62x51mmNATO) and 6.5 Creedmoor. The Spear comes with 20 round magazines made by Lancer, though it can reliably feed from any AR10 pattern magazine designed for .308 due to all three calibers sharing the same parent case.
Sig Sauer Mcx Spear (Xm5, Xm7) Feature
The SIG Sauer MCX Spear, now referred to as the XM7 in full-auto models, is a gas-operated rifle that operates on a long-stroke gas piston and multi-lug rotating bolt. Barrel lengths available include 13 inches for SBR and military models and 16 and 18 inches in semi-auto rifle setups. The free-floating handguard extends the full-length optics rail out to the gas block.
Sig Sauer Mcx Spear (Xm5, Xm7) Ergonomics
The MCX Spear has ambidextrous controls based directly on the AR15 with the addition of an FN FAL style side charging handle to make it even more awesome. The handguard is notably wide and is heavily ventilated to keep the barrel as cool as the rest of the rifle. The XM7 is definitely front-heavy, especially with the standard-issue suppressor mounted on the muzzle.
Sig Sauer Mcx Spear (Xm5, Xm7) Mobility
The MCX Spear measures 36 inches long with a 13 inch barrel equipped with a suppressor as shown and has an unloaded weight of 8.4 pounds. The 16 and 18 inch barrel models measure approximately 35 and 37 inches long, respectively, with an unloaded weight around 8.2 and 8.5 pounds, all this making the MCX Spear as easy to carry and maneuver as an AR10.
Sig Sauer Mcx Spear (Xm5, Xm7) Fit-N-Finish
The XM7 has receivers and a handguard made of aircraft grade aluminum with a desert-tan colored PVD coating and steel components that are black nitride coated. The barrel on the .277 caliber (6.8mm) rifles is reinforced to handle the 80,000 PSI chamber pressures from the specialized ammo reserved for combat engagements.
