See DealThe SIG Sauer SIG516 is a semi-automatic rifle manufactured by SIG Sauer. It is an AR-15 style rifle chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO.[1] Introduced in 2010, the SIG516 was discontinued as of 2019. A variant chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, the SIG716, remains in production. The SIG516 is a semi-automatic multi-caliber rifle. It fires from a closed bolt, and has a short-stroke push rod piston system. The gas piston pushes the bolt carrier rearward, where it is returned to the forward and locked position

by a spring. This process loads the next cartridge. The 516 has a four position gas regulator, allowing the user to choose the amount of gas directed to the piston.SIG Sauer 516 For Sale

Sig Sauer 516 Capacity
The SIG 516 is chambered in 5.56x45mmNATO (.223 Remington) and feeds from all AR15 pattern magazines. This gives the rifle a standard capacity of 30 rounds, however the shorter 5, 10 and 20 round magazines as well as the larger 40, 60 and 100 round magazines will work. This rifle was built with a billet lower and the magazine well’s flare isn’t as defined as forged lowers.
Sig Sauer 516 Feature
The SIG Sauer 516 is an AR15 pattern semi-automatic rifle that retains the multi-lug rotating bolt action but employs a short-stroke gas piston instead of using the typical internal-piston operation style. This reduces fouling inside the bolt carrier group as well as reduce the amount of heat introduced into the system at the expense of a slight decrease in accuracy and a small bump in weight. This rifle has a 16.5 inch barrel paired with an adjustable gas block so you can tune the gas pressure in case you run the rifle suppressed.
Sig Sauer 516 Ergonomics
The SIG 516 has a typical AR15 control layout but with multiple improvements to the fire controls. The magazine release can be engaged from either side, the bolt catch includes a manual hold-open extension, the pistol grip has improved contours over a standard A2 grip, and the stock has a SOPMOD style geometry. The rifle includes a free-floating 7 inch quad rail for a handguard, and a hand stop or front grip is recommended to avoid accidentally touching the gas block which can get very hot.
Sig Sauer 516 Mobility
The SIG 516 has the same overall length as any other off-the-shelf AR15 with a 16 inch barrel and typically has an unloaded weight of 7.5 pounds. Once an optic and front grip are added, this rifle can easily exceed 9 pounds and while that’s heavier than most would prefer, this added weight does reduce the felt recoil which allows for a faster follow-up shot. Otherwise, the rifle has the same overall mobility as a standard AR15.
Sig Sauer 516 Fit-N-Finish
The SIG 516 has been built on both forged and billet receiver sets and the difference between the two is minimal. Where this rifle stands out, aside from its improved gas system, is in its surface finishes of the contacting surfaces. The inside of the upper receiver is honed both before and after anodizing for a much smoother finish than budget-ARs, the front face of the upper receiver is trued to improve accuracy through added barrel contact, and the bolt carrier has a much better surface finish than what MIL-SPEC requires. This offers a much smoother-shooting rifle.
