Ruger Single-Six Features

The Ruger Single Six is a .22 caliber revolver that is modeled after the classic Colt Peacemaker and fires from a single-action trigger pull.  This gun is available with barrel lengths between 4.6 inches and 9.5 inches with 5.5 being the most common.  The barrel includes a front sight blade and has a rear sight that is cut out of the frame and is therefore non-adjustable.

Ruger Single-Six Capacity

The Ruger Single Six is chambered in .22LR and has a 6 round cylinder.  If you’re looking for something with a little bit more of a punch, check out the Ruger Single Six Convertible which comes with two cylinders letting you shoot .22LR and .22 Magnum.  In each gun, rounds are loaded and spent cases are ejected through a side loading gate on the right side of the frame.

Ruger Single-Six Ergonomics

Ergonomics
Since the Ruger Single Six has its design based on the Colt Single Action Army revolver, the controls and ergonomics are nearly identical with the Ruger having a slightly smaller grip circumference.  The Gunslinger style grip allows the gun to rotate under the recoil for a two-fold action that reduces felt recoil and brings your thumb closer to the hammer allowing for a faster follow-up shot.

Ruger Single-Six Fit & Finish

The Ruger Single-Six is available with a blued finish or in stainless steel.  Ruger has a reputation for making incredibly durable guns by heat treating all of their metal components to a ridiculous hardness.  This prevents the gun from wearing out as well as scratching or receiving any other type of impact damage.  The grips are made of American Walnut sealed in linseed oil for a classic look that does well to repel water.

Fit and Finish

Ruger Single-Six Concealability

Concealability
In its shortest configuration, the Ruger Single Six is over 9 inches long making it just about the worst possible thing to try and conceal.  Further, if you’re not wearing this in a leather holster accompanied by cowboy boots, a Stetson and a spittoon for your chaw, you’re doing something wrong.  These revolvers are for target shooting and for dispatching small game, not CCW.
