The Ruger Mini-14 Tactical is chambered in .223 Remington and is not rated to handle the higher pressures of the 5.56x45mm cartridge.  It is fed by proprietary double-stack detachable box magazines because the engineers didn’t want to use AR15 mags.  Capacities of 5, 10 and 20 rounds are very easy to find, however Sturm, Ruger & Co. only sells 30 round magazines to law enforcement agencies so if you want to run a standard sized magazine, you’ll have to buy from the aftermarket.

Ruger Mini-14 Tactical Ergonomics

The Mini-14 Tactical utilizes an AR15-pattern buffer tube which allows you to attach any adjustable stock you want.  Its design incorporates a pistol grip that gives users a more comfortable wrist angle while maintaining the forward support grip ergonomics and control setup.  The adjustable stock allows the user to alter the length of pull allowing people of varying statures to comfortably shoulder and fire the rifle.

Ruger Mini-14 Tactical Fit-N-Finish

The Mini-14 Tactical is made with steel components that are heat treated to an incredible hardness and have a black nitride coating to maximize durability.  These rifles are all post-580 series builds with the updated barrel contours to increase accuracy.  The stock is made of a surprisingly durable polymer material while the buffer tube is made of 7075-T6 aircraft grade aluminum with a type-III hard anodize coating.  Be sure to apply white lithium grease to the cam groove, charging handle groove and bolt lug groove before firing.
