Ruger Scout Rifle Capacity

The Ruger Scout Rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO) and feeds from AICS pattern magazines giving the rifle capacities of 5 and 10 rounds.  The Ruger Scout Rifle was the first successful rifle to hit the market that uses a standardized box magazine, so thank you Ruger for being awesome and getting the industry to quit being boring.

Ruger Scout Rifle Feature

The Ruger Scout Rifle is a short, lightweight bolt action rifle that offers easy handling while offering plenty of practical firepower.  It is built with either a 16.1 or 18 inch barrel topped with a scout-style Picatinny rail and adjustable iron sights.  This requires the use of long eye relief scopes that use a 12 inch eye relief length.

Ruger Scout Rifle Ergonomics

When you pick up a Ruger Scout Rifle, you notice immediately that it feels like a traditional deer rifle.  The bolt handle is directly over the trigger for a very easy transition, the safety is located towards the back of the receiver and the magazine release is located along the front of the trigger guard behind the magazine.  The stock includes a half-pistol grip, the grip and forend are aggressively checkered, and a rubber buttpad sits on the back of the stock to absorb some recoil.

Ruger Scout Rifle Mobility

Measuring 37 inches long with an unloaded weight of 7.1 pounds, the Scout Rifle is as easy to carry as a typical AR15.  The traditional stock reduces the chances of the rifle getting caught on dense vegetation, and the detachable magazine lets you easily reload whether you’re at the bench, in the woods or out on safari.

Ruger Scout Rifle Fit-N-Finish

The Ruger Scout Rifle is built with steel components that are hardened to Ruger’s standards which are much higher than the industry average and then they’re blued to prevent rust and retain oil.  The stock is made of laminated wood which is very resistant to splitting and is sanded smooth and sealed with a matte clear coat finish.
