Ruger Ar-556 Capacity

The Ruger AR556 is chambered in 5.56x45mmNATO (or .223 Remington when measured in freedom units) and accepts all AR15 pattern magazines.  This allows for capacities of 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40 rounds in the standard double-stack magazines and includes capacities of 60 and 100 rounds in the quad-stack and drum magazines.

Ruger Ar-556 Feature

The Ruger AR556 is built in a handful of configurations, but the majority of them use all but a few of the same parts.  These rifles are built on forged receivers and use an A3 style upper receiver.  Their 16 inch barrel has an M4 profile without the useless M203 cut and is paired with a carbine-length gas system.  Its internal parts can all be described as “mil-spec” and it is typically built with a carbine-style buffer tube.

Ruger Ar-556 Ergonomics

The controls of the AR556 are familiar and basic.  Controls are set up in the factory for right-handed use.  The furniture can be set up in any configuration thanks to the modularity of this AR15 style design, including different grips, stocks, and handguards.

Ruger Ar-556 Mobility

The AR556, both in its more standard setups or in their NY and CA compliant configurations, offer the same level of mobility and handiness as any other 16 inch AR15 pattern rifle.  With an unloaded weight of 7.5 pounds, this rifle is easy to carry over long distances and its short length of 38 inches allows easy use in close-quarter environments.

Ruger Ar-556 Fit-N-Finish

The AR556 is a functional entry-level AR platform.  Everything is made to spec and the material quality ensures a very safe and reasonably accurate rifle, but there isn’t anything that allows it to stand out from the crowd.
