Small to Medium Game Fun in a Full-Size Rifle. In 1983, Ruger® responded to the many shooters who desired a high-quality, adult-size .22 rimfire rifle - one that was built to centerfire standards of strength, accuracy and aesthetics. Focused on building a rifle that was accurate, economical, and extremely handsome, Bill Ruger launched the family of bolt-action rifles using the rotary magazine. Comparing favorably with custom-made firearms, the innovative 77/22® (available in .22 LR, .22 Mag. or .22 Hornet), the powerful 77/357,

Ruger 77/22 Capacity
The Ruger 77/22 is chambered in .22 Hornet and feeds from an internal magazine with a capacity of 6 rounds. Fun fact: .22 Hornet is the smallest caliber with which you can legally deer hunt in Kentucky. This round is easily suppressed, so Ruger added a threaded muzzle to the gun with a ½-28UNEF-2B thread pitch.
Ruger 77/22 Feature
The Ruger 77/22 is a bolt-action varmint rifle that is built on a mini action with a threaded 20 inch barrel. Unlike many other Model 77’s, this version lacks iron sights and instead has mounting points on the receiver for scope rings.
Ruger 77/22 Ergonomics
The Ruger 77/22 has a very traditional feel to its wood stock that includes a half-pistol grip and a bolt handle that rests directly over the trigger for an easy transition. The stock has an incredibly small amount of drop compared to other hunting rifles and though some may see this as a detriment to the recoil impulse, that’s negated by the fact that it’s a .22 Hornet.
Ruger 77/22 Mobility
The Ruger 77/22 measures 39.25 inches long and has an unloaded weight of 6.5 pounds. Combining this with its smooth contours, this rifle is significantly easier to carry around than an AR15 and does a better job at avoiding getting tangled up in dense brush.
Ruger 77/22 Fit-N-Finish
If Ruger is known for anything, it’s the fact that all of their metal parts are heat treated to an incredible hardness. This improves durability and longevity as well as maintain a smooth action and consistent performance. The receiver and barrel are blued while the bolt assembly is made of stainless steel, and the stock is made of American Walnut.
