It’s 30-30 Time with the Rossi R95 As lever action rifles surge in popularity across the country, Rossi employees kept getting asked one question at every trade show they were at: “when are you bringing a 30-30 to market?” The answer is now with the all new R95, which features a hammer forged barrel, a smooth hand finished lever action, large loading gate, and is drilled and tapped for optics. That’s on top of the walnut finish, 5+1 capacity, and the fact that it’s compatible with rails and handguards that work with another major manufacturer’s lever action. There’s nothing better than a slick lever action. The feeling of levering a round in the chamber, hearing the mechanical parts working together in concert, the satisfying feeling of the bolt closing – it’s kinetic, it’s aesthetic, and it’s everything you want. Rossi has been feeding those feelings with its pistol caliber rifles for years, and now it’s giving a 30-30, perfect for North American game.

Rossi R95 Capacity

The R95 is chambered in .30-30 Winchester and feeds from a fixed tube-style magazine with a 5 round capacity.   Rounds are loaded directly into the magazine tube through the loading gate in the right side of the receiver.

The 16.5 inch versions of the R95 measure 35.5 inches long and have an unloaded weight of 6.7 pounds while the 20 inch versions measure 39 inches long and weigh in right around 7 pounds.  This puts them a bit under the typical length and weight of other .30-30 caliber lever guns that are currently on the market allowing them to score higher for mobility.

Rossi R95 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The 20 inch models of the R95 use a standard loop lever while the 16.5 inch models are made with a large-loop lever.  Both of these guns use the same stocks and forends that include checkering for added grip.  The stocks on each model incorporate a half-pistol grip and have a typical amount of drop in their stocks and include a rubber buttpad to reduce felt recoil.

Rossi R95 Fit & Finish

The Rossi R95 is built on a carbon-steel receiver and uses a stainless steel bolt.  All carbon steel components are blued to prevent rust and retain surface oil.  The stocks and forends are made of walnut and are sealed with a rich matte clear coat that offers a classic look while maintaining a decent amount of damage resistance from the environment.
