Radical Firearms 458 Socom Features

The Radical Firearms RF15 is a semi-automatic, gas-operated AR15 pattern rifle that operates on the classic internal piston action with a multi-lug rotating bolt.  Its 16.5 inch barrel is paired with a carbine-length gas system which is all surrounded by a 15 inch long M-Lok handguard giving you plenty of real estate to attach lights, lasers, iron sights, optics, and according to CNN you can attach a chainsaw as an underbarrel.

Radical Firearms 458 Socom Capacity

The RF15 is available in 5.56x45mmNATO (.223 Remington), .300 Blackout, and 7.62x39mm and feeds from all AR15 pattern magazines giving it a standard capacity of 30 rounds.  Smaller 5, 10, and 20-round magazines are easy to find and for the 5.56mm versions, larger 40-round magazines are available as well as 60 and 100-round drum and coffin magazines.

The RF15 weighs in at 7.5 pounds and has an overall length identical to other 16” AR15 builds making it very easy to carry for a long time.  This ~35” length makes it rather easy to navigate through close-quarter environments  and its lack of a forward quad rail keeps you from getting your rifle snagged on your gear or on objects like belts, wires or dense vegetation.

Mobility

Radical Firearms 458 Socom Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The RF15 is available with a variety of collapsible stocks that are made by other companies with each offering their own pros and cons for comfort and shootability.  All of the stocks can easily be moved to adjust the length of pull to accommodate shooters of different heights and body styles.  The pistol grips are also available with different setups ranging from the standard A2 grip to some pretty ergonomic aftermarket options.  The controls include an ambidextrous safety and an enlarged bolt release paddle, and the handguard has a rather thin 1.8” width.

Radical Firearms 458 Socom Fit & Finish

The RF15 is built on a Mil-Spec forged receiver set made of 7075-T6 aircraft grade aluminum and stands above the rest of the entry-level ARs by offering a long handguard and aftermarket components for a base model gun as opposed to other manufacturers that insist on using $2 pistol grips, $10 stocks and $11 handguards.  The bolt carrier group is black nitride coated to make it almost impervious to wear and rust, however it has the potential to wear your upper receiver out faster as a result.
