Palmetto State Armory PA-15 Features

The Palmetto State Armory PA-15 is a series of AR15-pattern rifles that comes in a wide variety of setups.  The majority are built with 16 inch barrels paired with carbine-length gas systems, but they can also be found with the superior mid-length gas system.  These rifles are typically built with collapsing stocks, however some versions are built with an A2 style (M16) stock.  All of these rifles operate on the same internal-piston action as a typical AR15.

Palmetto State Armory PA-15 Capacity

The PSA PA-15 is available in a number of different calibers with the most common chambering being in 5.56x45mm NATO (.223 Remington).  This rifle is built to the standard AR15 specs allowing it to accept all AR15 pattern magazines, and this gives the rifle a standard capacity of 30 rounds.  Smaller 5, 10 and 20 round magazines can be used without issue, and the larger 40, 60 and 100 round magazines also have no problems fitting in this rifle.
The PA-15 is of similar weight and length to any other AR built on forged receivers with the same components.  Pro-tip: if you collapse your stock inwards so your nose is about 1 inch from the charging handle, it’s a lot easier to shift fire to another target.  If you’re wearing plates or a vest, try shooting it with the stock completely collapsed and see how much easier it is.

Palmetto State Armory PA-15 Mobility

Mobility

Palmetto State Armory PA-15 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
Most PA-15 models use the standard right-handed-only control setups that are commonly found on MIL-SPEC AR pattern rifles, and the furniture added can vary widely based on whatever PSA feels like putting together that day.  PSA doesn’t manufacture their own stocks or pistol grips, and the handguards are typically supplied to them by other manufacturers, each offering their own ergonomics.  It’s an AR, pick one out that you like.

Palmetto State Armory PA-15 Fit & Finish

The PA15 has been built into many different setups ranging from cold-war “retro” builds to GWOT setups all the way up to aftermarket assemblies and modern competition rifles.  They’re also available as pistols that make for great first steps to Form-1 and SBR.  They’re all built on forged receivers and have MIL-SPEC internal components.  If you buy one with the intent to switch out parts as you can afford them, know that it uses a MIL-pattern buffer tube.
