Pedersoli Droptine Features

The Pedersoli Droptine is an Italian-made 1894 pattern lever-action rifle that takes a classic design and employs modern engineering without a tacky “tacticool” look.  The rifle has a 19 inch barrel that includes a threaded muzzle with a ⅝-24 pitch and is topped with fiber-optic iron sights as well as a barrel-mounted scout-style optics rail.

Pedersoli Droptine Capacity

The Droptine is chambered in .30-30 Winchester and feeds from a fixed tube-style magazine with a capacity of 4 rounds.  To load the rifle, rounds are loaded directly into the magazine tube through a loading gate in the side of the receiver.  After 4 rounds are loaded, you can cycle the action to chamber a round and load a 5th round into the tube for a 4+1 capacity.
The Droptine measures just under 38 inches long and has an unloaded weight of 8.4 pounds.  With an optic mounted, this rifle can easily weigh 10 pounds or more, however this does dampen the recoil impulse.  The rifle maintains a short-handy length which is useful when on a hunting trip in the woods.

Pedersoli Droptine Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The Droptine maintains a classic feel by matching a half-pistol grip contour but improves the handling by adding traction ribs to the grip surfaces of the stock and handguard.  The stock has an adjustable cheek riser that allows the user to maintain a good sight picture when using optics, and the lever is slightly enlarged for gloved use.  The safety is mounted at the top of the grip, and the stock has a rubber buttpad to help absorb some of the recoil.

Pedersoli Droptine Fit & Finish

The Droptine was designed with a high-strength composite to be used instead of wood for the handguard and the stock.  This coupled with the demand from Pedersoli to require a smooth action (and don’t forget the cheek riser) puts this lever-action rifle in close competition with a lot of American-made lever guns and has a lot of potential to shake up the market.
