Mossberg SA-20 Features

The Mossberg SA-20 is a series of semi-automatic shotguns that operate on an inertia-driven action with a single locking lug.  This gun can be built in a traditional skeet or fowl setup, it can be a deer gun, and it can have a tactical setup as well.  Barrel lengths range from 20 to 28 inches and it can all be topped with a variety of iron sights from single- and double-beads as well as ghost ring sights.  The receiver is also drilled and tapped to accept an optics rail.

Mossberg SA-20 Ballistics

Mossberg SA-20 Capacity

The SA-20, as the name implies, is built to run 20 gauge shells and has a 3 inch chamber and a fixed magazine tube with a capacity of 4 rounds.  To load the gun, make sure the bolt is forward (you can breach load a shell before closing the bolt) and then manually insert the shells directly into the magazine tube through the loading port in the bottom of the receiver.

The SA-20 has an unloaded weight of only 6 pounds with its longest barrel length which makes it incredibly easy to carry for long durations.  Depending on the barrel attached, the ease of mobility through tight spaces will change accordingly, as will the balance and ease of target tracking.

Mossberg SA-20 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The SA-20, thankfully, is popular enough to be offered with different furniture setups.  This can include a Monte-Carlo style stock with a half-pistol grip, thumbhole stocks, or fixed stocks with a tacticool pistol grip.  The controls include a safety forward of the trigger, a bolt release on the right side of the receiver, and a right-side reciprocating charging handle.

Mossberg SA-20 Fit & Finish

The SA-20 is built on an aluminum receiver that is anodized to prevent corrosion while the barrels are made of carbon steel with a glossy blue finish.  The bolt is made of stainless steel and is hardened for maximum durability and reliability and is smoothed out to reduce wear on the receiver.  The stocks are made of high-strength composite that can surely take a beating or American Walnut that will keep the old timers at the Rod & Gun club from complaining.
