Mossberg 930 Features

The Mossberg 930 is a semi-automatic, gas-operated shotgun that is available in a variety of setups.  It is most commonly found with either a 26 inch smooth-bore barrel with a vented rib, a 22 inch rifled barrel or an 18.5 inch “security” barrel that has an improved-cylinder bore.  The models with the security barrel include a Picatinny rail on top of the receiver for mounting optics.

Mossberg 930 Ballistics

Mossberg 930 Capacity

The Mosberg 930 is chambered to accept 3-inch 12 gauge shells and feeds from a magazine tube that can hold 5 or 8 shells.  Rounds are loaded directly into the magazine tube through the loading port in the bottom of the receiver just forward of the trigger guard.

The Mossberg 930 can be set up with different barrels and stocks which can change its length and weight making its overall length anywhere from 38.75 to 45 inches long and its weight anywhere from 7.25 to 8.5 pounds depending on the setup.  With its traditionally-styled stock and handguard, this shotgun can easily be carried through heavy brush while its shorter, more tactical setups are easily used in close-quarter environments.

Mossberg 930 Mobility

Mobility

Mossberg 930 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The Mossberg 930 has an industry-standard control setup for a semi-automatic shotgun.  Its charging handle is connected to the bolt and extends through the ejection port on the right side of the gun, its bolt release is located underneath the ejection port, and it has a Mossberg-style safety that sits on top of the grip profile at the back of the receiver.  Its handguard is typically as shown with deep checkering, and its stock can have a traditional profile as well as have a pistol grip or adjustable buttstock.

Mossberg 930 Fit & Finish

Unlike other big-name affordable shotgun makers, Mossberg actually takes the time to properly blue their steel components and manufacture their parts properly so they fit.  The Mossberg 930 is built so all contacting surfaces are honed for a smooth action while also taking care to make sure all finishes are properly applied.  Once the packing oil is removed and the gun is broken in, it’ll run like a sewing machine.
