Mossberg 590 Capacity
The Mossberg 590 is equipped with a tube magazine that can hold six 2-¾” shells or five 3” shells. To load the Mossberg 590, shells are inserted directly into the magazine tube through the loading port in the bottom of the receiver.
Mossberg 590 Feature
The Mossberg 590 is a pump action 12 gauge shotgun that is heavily based on the 500 series. It is available with a composite stock and forend, and variants can include heat shields over the barrel and ghost ring sights.
Mossberg 590 Ergonomics
The only difference between the Mossbergs 500 and 590 is the magazine tube. The controls and ergonomics are identical, while the center of gravity may be in a different spot along the gun. Available with two sighting systems, the front bead sight remains intuitive for anyone who has used the system before, while the ghost ring sights offer a very easy-to-use sight picture.
Mossberg 590 Mobility
Weighing 6.75 pounds unloaded, the Mossberg 590 weighs less than a typical AR15 making it easy to carry over long distances. Its length of 39.5 inches can make it difficult to fire from the shoulder in close quarter environments, however aftermarket sources offer replacement kits so the user can install a telescoping or folding stock.
Mossberg 590 Fit-N-Finish
The Mossberg 590 has metal components sporting a deep and durable bluing, while the composite stock and handguard offer a sturdy and comfortable grip. The internal components of the Mossberg 500 often show tool marks from manufacturing that can be felt when cycling the action, and the dual-action arms, toleranced to avoid jams, allow the handguard to twist around the magazine tube possibly giving the user an unstable grip.
