The Parker Hale M85 is a British made sniper rifle made after the Falklands War, with an effective range of around 900 metres and a maximum range of approx 1,200 metres. The M85 took part in the British Army trials for a replacement sniper rifle, along with the Accuracy International PM, Heckler & Koch PSG1, SIG-Sauer SSG 2000, and Remington 700. The rifle lost by a slight margin to the Accuracy International (adopted by the British Army as the L96). The M85 has a McMillan fiberglass stock, a bipod, emergency iron sights, an integral dovetail mount, a threaded muzzle for a flash suppressor. The standard scope was a 6x42mm Schmidt & Bender with a BDC from 200 – 900 meters. The weapon also has a silent safety catch, a threaded muzzle for flash suppressor, and an integral dovetail mount that accepts a variety of sights. Parker Hale has been out of busines since 2012 and now is owned by Parker Hale Limited (care of John Rothery Wholesale). Importation in the USA began 1989 and last MSRP was $1,970.
