Kimber 1911 Capacity
Kimber offers 1911’s in all of the popular pistol calibers including 10mm, 9mm, .40 S&W and of course .45ACP among others. Built from 70-series prints, the Kimber 1911 feeds from standard single-stack magazines with capacities ranging from 7 to 9 rounds depending on the caliber.
Kimber 1911 Feature
Kimber makes a wide variety of 1911’s with different grips, frames, slides, sights and internal components, though their internal geometry remains very faithful to the original design. All of their full-size pistols use 5 inch barrels, the triggers are honed and polished for a crisp, clean break that you’ll be able to brag about every time you fire the gun, and the slides are hand fitted in accordance with the gun’s tradition.
Kimber 1911 Ergonomics
Kimber offers many different grip options with their wide variety of 1911 models. The one thing they all have in common, however, is a consistent control setup allowing for a very easy learning curve for anyone who has even picked up a 1911 beforehand. Grip panels and grip texturing vary greatly from one model to the next, and some Kimbers even offer ambidextrous safeties.
Kimber 1911 Concealability
Kimber’s full-size 1911’s are generally identical in size to other full-size 1911’s on the market, so if you can already successfully conceal another 1911, you can conceal a Kimber. The only thing to take note of, other than the possibility of needing a new holster, is the potential of the custom geometry causing some discomfort. While a standard 1911 only has an exposed hammer that can dig into your gut, some Kimbers have more aggressive shapes that can add to it.
Kimber 1911 Fit-N-Finish
Kimber’s 1911’s are most commonly built on steel frames, however some models are made from aircraft grade aluminum. The finishes can also vary and can include bluing, cerakoting, anodizing, polishing and more. Kimbers have a typical break-in period of 200 rounds, so if you have a new Kimber, clean off the packing oil, apply a good, quality oil to all parts, and fire off 200 rounds at your local gun range. Clean it again and you should be good to go, and if you aren’t, Kimber will gladly re-work your gun for you.
