Kel-Tec Su-16 Capacity
The Kel-Tec SU-16 accepts all AR15 pattern magazines, giving the user capacities of 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, and 100 rounds in detachable box magazines and 60, 75, and 100 rounds in drum magazines.
Kel-Tec Su-16 Feature
The Kel-Tec SU-16 is a family of semi-automatic rifles chambered in 5.56/.223 and accepts all AR15 pattern magazines. These gas-operated rifles have an 18.5 inch barrel and have a long-stroke gas piston and an AR-18 style bolt and carrier. Its receivers are steel-reinforced polymer and have composite stocks and handguards, some of which can fold or be used as a bipod.
Kel-Tec Su-16 Ergonomics
The SU-16 is available in multiple setups, each with their own pros and cons. This rifle is side-charging with its bolt handle along the right side of the gun. Its cross-bar safety is placed over the trigger. The handguards can be a skeletonized, modular type with an attachment rail underneath or can have a more traditional appearance with the added bonus of being able to fold out and act as a bipod.
Kel-Tec Su-16 Mobility
The SU-16 weighs less than 5 pounds unloaded across all versions and has an overall length just under 36 inches making this rifle score top marks in mobility. It is lighter and therefore more handy than an AR15 or Mini-14 yet still delivers the same firepower.
Kel-Tec Su-16 Concealability
The Kel-Tec SU-16C is a concealable rifle thanks to its folding stock. With the stock folded, its length is reduced from 36 to 27 inches which makes it easy to carry in a hiking bag when exploring the wilderness where you might want a rifle to defend against rabid wildlife.
Kel-Tec Su-16 Fit-N-Finish
The SU-16 series of rifles is built with a very liberal use of polymer components. Its handguards are noticeably flimsy, however they do a good job at protecting the user’s hand, and the front of the upper receiver can get rather toasty when firing.
