Accepting all AR15 pattern magazines, the Kel-Tec PLR-16 can be loaded with any size magazine. Capacities include 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, and 100 round detachable box magazines while also accepting 60 and 100 round drum magazines.
Kel-Tec Plr-16 Feature
The Kel-Tec PLR-16 is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 5.56x45mm and can accept all AR15 pattern magazines including drum magazines. It is gas opterated and employs a long-stroke gas piston similar to an AKM while using a rotating bolt similar to the AR15 or AR18. Its adjustable sights are complemented with an optics rail for red dot sights, and its polymer receivers keep the gun incredibly light.
Kel-Tec Plr-16 Ergonomics
With a pistol grip reminiscent of the AR15 and an aggressively-ribbed front handguard, this pistol gives the user plenty of control. The magazine release is in the same location as on an AR as well, while the charging handle is more of an AK47 style. Accurately firing this gun may require the user to affix a single-point sling to the rear of the pistol while applying tension to give a stable two-handed grip.
Kel-Tec Plr-16 Mobility
Measuring only 19 inches long and weighing less than 4 pounds, this handgun offers maximum mobility out of a 5.56mm semi-automatic platform. Operating with an AR18 style bolt and long-stroke gas piston, the lack of requiring a buffer tube allows for a very short firearm. This allows the user to quickly navigate through close-quarters environments.
Kel-Tec Plr-16 Fit-N-Finish
Built with polymer receivers with metal inserts, this pistol and its rifle-style siblings may feel rather flimsy. The visible screws seen across the pistol give it a bit of a garage-built look while the built in iron sights appear rather obscured when firing the pistol at arm’s length.
