Imi Galil Capacity
The Galil is available in 5.56x45mNATO, 7.62x39mm, and 7.62x51mmNATO (.308 Winchester) and feeds from different magazines. The 5.56 versions feed from rock-in stamped steel magazines with 30 and 35 round capacities, the 7.62x39 versions use AKM magazines, and the .308 versions use their own stamped steel box magazines. The 7.62x39mm versions can also accept standard-pattern 75 round drum magazines that are used on the RPK.
Imi Galil Feature
The IMI Galil is a rifle that was heavily inspired by the AK47 and has internal moving parts that are nearly identical. The Galil was produced in two main setups with a 13 or an 18 inch barrel, though both had a front handguard that could easily be used to open beer bottles. The Galil has iron sights that provide a much longer sight radius than the AKM and is available in multiple calibers.
Imi Galil Ergonomics
The Galil has the same manual of arms to the AKM with an enlarged magazine release and a reciprocating charging handle that is bent upwards to allow the user to easily cycle the bolt by reaching over the action with his or her left hand. The Galil also has a safety selector on the right side of the gun just like the AKM and also has an added extension that reaches down to the user’s shooting hand and can be actuated by the shooter’s thumb.
Imi Galil Mobility
Measuring 33 inches long with an unloaded weight of 8.27 pounds, the Galil scores very similar points for mobility when compared to the AK47. The Galil is a few inches shorter than the AK, but weighs about a pound more due to its use of a milled receiver. Galil rifles are all equipped with folding stocks which make their use in vehicles much easier.
Imi Galil Fit-N-Finish
On the inside for sure, and mostly on the outside, the Galil is an AK47. They are built with milled receivers and can be found with wood or polymer furniture and are just as durable and modular as any AK.
