The Ultra Slug guns incorporates the transfer bar safety system, mated to a heavy action and it is rifled for an extremely heavy barrel wall. This process creates the stiffest possible barrel, limiting barrel whip and shrinking group size.

H&R 1871 Ultra Slug Hunter Capacity
The Harrington & Richardson Ultra Slug Hunter is a break-action, single-shot shotgun. To load it, press down on the lever sitting to the right of the hammer and allow the barrel to drop. Load a round into the chamber and close the barrel. After firing, press the lever again to eject the spent shell.
H&R 1871 Ultra Slug Hunter Ergonomics
Built with furniture made of black walnut, the H&R Ultra Slug Hunter features a Monte Carlo style buttstock and a short front handguard. The cheek comb along the top of the stock gives users a comfortable cheek weld while using optics while the short handguard places the user’s support hand at or near the shotgun’s center of gravity, giving the user a very balanced grip.
