This particular Howa HCR is available in .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO) and 6.5 Creedmoor and ships with a 10-round proprietary magazine. Shorter 5 round magazines are available through most aftermarket retailers and are handy in case you want to take the rifle out deer hunting.
Howa Hcr American Flag Chassis Feature
The Howa HCR American Flag Chassis is a bolt-action precision rifle built on a chassis stock to increase accuracy and has a paint job designed and applied by a team of artists whom absolutely deserve a raise. This rifle has a 24 inch barrel capped with a muzzle brake over a ⅝-24 threaded muzzle and has a 15 inch free-floating M-Lok handguard to allow attachments without affecting accuracy.
Howa Hcr American Flag Chassis Ergonomics
The Howa HCR uses an AR15-pattern pistol grip for a comfortable trigger pull and comes with a LuthAR stock that includes an adjustable cheek riser. Both of these can be switched out for different stocks and grips to suit the user’s preferences. The portion of the chassis (stock) forward of the magazine offers a very reasonable support grip and is also the center of gravity so it is quite comfortable to carry.

The Howa HCR has a heavy unloaded weight of 12.3 pounds and can easily exceed 15 pounds once you attach a scope, bipod, accessories and a full magazine. This would make the gun rather difficult to carry over long durations, though it was intended to be a precision target rifle over a deer gun.
