The original Colt hammer guns did not use a tang safety; on the Pietta the sliding safety has to be manually engaged. The shotgun has manual extractors, and the triggers fire front right, rear left, with a trigger pull average of 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 7 pounds, 6.4 ounces, respectively.
