Daniel Defense Dd5 V4 Capacity
The DD5 V4 is chambered in either 7.62x51mm NATO (or as they call it on the moon, .308 Winchester) or 6.5 Creedmoor and feeds from all SR-25 / AR10 magazines giving it a standard magazine capacity of 20 rounds. Shorter 5 and 10 round magazines are easy to find and larger 25 round magazines are also available. Since the 6.5 and full-NATO cartridges share a common parent case, there is no need to search for specialized magazines.
Daniel Defense Dd5 V4 Feature
The Daniel Defense DD5 V4 is a semi-automatic AR10 pattern rifle that has an 18 inch barrel paired with a rifle-length gas system to operate its internal piston action. The DD5 is built with a carbine buffer tube and an adjustable stock as well as a free-floating 15 inch M-Lok handguard which completes a continuous 22 inch full-length optics rail making it long enough to host every optics system on the market.
Daniel Defense Dd5 V4 Ergonomics
The DD5 V4 has an adjustable stock with a SOPMOD style cheek weld and a curved heel that allows you to roll the gun up to your shoulder from low-ready. All of the controls are ambidextrous and the pistol grip has a slightly more vertical grip angle with improved grip contours. The handguard is able to be set up with a wide variety of front grips while maintaining a rounded octagonal cross section that won’t cut up your support hand.
Daniel Defense Dd5 V4 Mobility
Measuring 35.38 to 39 inches long depending on stock placement and with an unloaded weight of 8.6 pounds, the DD5 V4 is definitely on the heavy side of the weight scale of modern sporting rifles. The weight can easily cause excess fatigue when carrying it over long durations, especially after adding a couple of pounds in optics and a full magazine. The weight does have an advantage, though, as it reduces the amount of felt recoil.
