Colt New Agent Features

The Colt New Agent is a semi-automatic, steel framed pistol modeled after the world-renowned 1911 and retains its short-recoil action but is built with a 3-inch barrel.  Just like its older brother, this pistol fires from a single-action trigger pull but has an improved skeletonized hammer.  Instead of iron sights, the slide has a groove cut down the middle to aid in target acquisition.

Colt New Agent Capacity

The Colt New Agent is chambered in 9mm Parabellum (9mm Luger, 9x19mm NATO) and feeds from a standardized single-stack 1911 pattern magazine with a standard capacity of 8 rounds.  Since Colt had a reputation of never scaling anything down aside from barrel lengths on their 1911 platform, the amount of metal around the chamber is significantly thicker than what you’d find on a .45 caliber model, so this pistol has no problem handling +P loads.

Colt New Agent Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The Colt New Agent has the same controls and grip geometry as a classic 1911 but has minimized control surfaces to improve its functions as a concealed carry pistol.  This is also why the standard sights have been removed.  The pistol is built with rosewood grips which everyone knows and loves, and the trigger pull is just as clean and crispy as the original back-to-back world war champ.

Colt New Agent Fit & Finish

It’s a Colt.  Moving on.  The most notable differences between the New Agent and a standard Colt 1911 is its more complicated disassembly and its trench sight.  The sight is arguably just as accurate as standard iron sights, especially since this is gun is for extremely up-close use, but many critics of the design suggest that it’s patently ineffective at any distance where an accurate shot would matter.

Fit and Finish

Colt New Agent Concealability

Concealability
While the barrel and overall length are two inches shorter than a standard 1911, it’s only .5 inches shorter in overall height because gun manufacturers always fail to understand that height is harder to hide than length when it comes to tucking a pistol away.  The New Agent tries to improve comfort in terms of concealment by using a skeletonized hammer instead of the old hook style, and the grip safety is shortened so it doesn’t poke you in the gut.  The trench sight was added to reduce snagging as you draw it from a holster.
