The Bushmaster BA-50 is chambered in .50BMG (12.7x99mm NATO) and feeds from a proprietary single-stack 5 round magazine. The BA-50 is capable of firing all standard-pressure .50BMG loads but is not rated for high-pressure loads like SLAP rounds.
Bushmaster Ba50 Rifle Feature
The Bushmaster BA-50 is a bolt-action, magazine fed .50 caliber rifle designed to mimic the handling and overall feel of the AR15. It is built with either a 22 or 30 inch barrel that is paired with a rediculously large and impressively effective muzzle brake and has a 12 inch free-floating handguard that includes a folding bipod. The handguard includes a raised top rail that allows for a wide variety of optics setups.
Bushmaster Ba50 Rifle Ergonomics
The BA-50 uses AR15 controls, pistol grips and stocks which give it a very familiar handling feel. Due to the internal geometry, the bolt handle sits on the left side of the upper receiver and runs under the scope rail. This was a design requirement as a bolt handle that sits behind the magazine wouldn’t be possible while using an AR15 style stock, and its left side placement is due to the fact that most users wouldn’t be able to reach the bolt handle with their shooting hand.
Bushmaster Ba50 Rifle Mobility
Measuring 58 inches long with an unloaded weight of 30 pounds, the BA-50 is definitely one of the heaviest bolt action anti-materiel rifles on the market. With its only saving grace being in its magazine feed and familiar ergonomics, this rifle would be very difficult to carry any further than the distance between your truck and the shooting bench at the local range. Thank goodness for its crazy effective range, right?
Bushmaster Ba50 Rifle Fit-N-Finish
Even though the BA-50 looks like it may have been built with parts from a hardware store, its match grade barrel gives it sub-MOA accuracy with quality-made factory ammo. The pistol grip and rifle stock can be switched out by the end user with simple hand tools, and the single-piece receiver ensures the most accuracy.
