The BDA 380 is a blowback operated, double action semi automatic pistol. It has an aluminium alloy frame and steel slide. An ambidextrous slide mounted safety switch disconnects the trigger from the hammer when engaged. This pistol features low profile fixed sights and is available in either polished steel or blued finish, with wooden grip panels. This gun deserved its good reputation as a reliable and comfortable to fire model.

Browning Bda 380 Capacity

The Browning BDA 380, as the name implies, is chambered in .380 ACP and feeds from a double-stack, single-feed magazine with a 13 round capacity.  Due to Browning’s build quality and the added slide mass of a larger pistol, the BDA is fully capable of safely firing +P rounds.

Browning Bda 380 Feature

The Browning BDA 380 is a semi-automatic, aluminum framed handgun that takes a lot of design elements from the Browning Hi-Power pistol and scales it down to a compact size appropriate for a .380.  It operates on a direct-blowback action and can be fired either from a single- or double-action trigger pull with the hammer resetting into single-action after the slide is cycled.

Browning Bda 380 Ergonomics

The BDA 380 has an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety, a push-button magazine release on the left side, a crisp single action trigger pull and a heavy and long but smooth double-action trigger pull.  The grips are smooth which improves comfort when carrying concealed, however it provides little traction when firing and wood always gets slippery when you get blood on it.  The hammer is checkered and the slide is serrated to aid in cycling the action.

Browning Bda 380 Concealability

Measuring 6.8 inches long and 4.8 inches tall, the BDA is pretty easy to conceal with a good holster, smart placement and clothing that is mildly loose.  The biggest issue would be in where the gun is carried as the exposed hammer and the grip tang can cause discomfort when appendix carrying or when not wearing an undershirt.

Browning Bda 380 Fit-N-Finish

Some Browning BDA 380’s are as snazzy as the day is long, but they all have aluminum frames and steel slides.  The grips are sanded smooth and sealed with a low-gloss clear coat making even the most standard versions absolute head turners.
