Browning Model 1903

The Browning M1903 is a blowback operated, semi-automatic pistol. The pistol is manufactured from ordnance steel and has a high lustre bluing finish. The recoil spring was located under the barrel. The single action trigger unit has a concealed hammer. A Manual safety switch is located at the left side of the frame, above the grip panel. When engaged, it locks the sear and the slide. It also locks the slide in the open position for disassembly. An additional automatic grip safety locks the sear unless the gun is properly held in the palm. The barrel is locked to the frame by several radial ribs. The 7 shot detachable box magazine is inserted in to the butt and locked by the lever at the heel of the grip. The grips are made from black plastic, which feature the FN logo, are screwed to the frame. A lanyard ring is located on the left side of the grip. Markings - FABRIQUE NATIONALE-D'ARMES de GUERRE-HERSTAL-BELGIQUE; BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE. Numerous proof house marks and manufacturing ciphers on slide frame and barrel.
