a Skid System for the AR-50A1 National Match. It s meant for serious match use and comes standard, NOT as an expensive add-on. The ArmaLite Skid System provides parallel rests on the rifle that are parallel with the bore of the rifle so when it recoils it will recoil straight back. This has been requested by match shooters, some of whom have made their own. The front skid attaches to the slot in the forestock similar to the way bipod rails are attached. The rear skid attaches to the buttstock. Armalite Ar-50A1 Capacity
The Armalite AR-50A1 is chambered in .50 BMG or .416 Barrett depending on the specific model. This rifle lacks a magazine leaving it with a capacity of one single round, and can safely chamber all standard-pressure loads. To load the rifle, pull the bolt back, toss an anti-material round pointy-end forward, close the bolt, and hang on tight.
Armalite Ar-50A1 Feature
The Armalite AR-50A1 is a single-shot bolt action rifle that was designed to allow a user to deliver anti-material firepower with precision and range without requiring a second mortgage on your house. This rifle is built with a 30 inch barrel capped with an oversized muzzle brake to reduce felt recoil and to avoid an ambulance ride due to a broken collarbone.
Armalite Ar-50A1 Ergonomics
The AR-50A1 uses an AR15 pattern grip, so if you want to switch it out, this can be done with hand tools. The stock has a rubber buttpad to help reduce the felt recoil impulse, and there is an adjustable cheek riser to help offer a consistent sight picture. Because this rifle is incredibly heavy, a bipod has been attached to the front of the stock to make aiming far easier.
Armalite Ar-50A1 Mobility
The AR-50A1 measures 58.5 inches long and has an unloaded weight of 37.1 pounds. Once you attach a scope that’s strong enough to stand up to the incredible recoil, it’s very likely that you’ll end up with a 40 pound single-shot rifle. Mobility is basically a joke at this point, especially when you consider the effective range of the rifle.
Armalite Ar-50A1 Fit-N-Finish
The AR-50A1 is built on a chassis style stock to offer better inherent accuracy, and all of the steel components are black phosphate coated to reduce environmental damage like rain and humidity. With standard ball ammo, these rifles often deliver 1.5 MOA groups at 100 yds. With the large caliber combined with the muzzle brake, it might be a good idea to take some ibuprofen before firing this gun, or wait until there’s a good blanket of fresh snow on the ground to absorb some of the sound.
