Browning first offered their Browning High Power rifle in .22-250 in 1963, a first for a major arms manufacturer chambering a production model for a “wildcat” cartridge. The .22-250 Remington was the first non Weatherby cartridge chambered in the Weather Mark V line of rifles. British and Australian Special Air Service units adopted the .22-250 cartridge for urban sniping operations during the 1980’s in an attempt to reduce excessive penetration and ricochets.
